Metal Clay Jewelry

Come learn the magic and alchemy of metal clay, one of the most innovative and creative methods of working with metal. Metal clays are recycled metals in silver, gold, copper and bronze. In these one-day workshops, students create a pendant and earring set using silver and copper clays. We will form, torch-fire and polish the pieces so you can take them home and wear them right away! Choose one or as many sessions as you like.

Introduction to Silk Painting

Painting on silk is beautiful and luxurious. This class is designed to give an introduction to the basic techniques involved in the art to create two scarves. Students will learn the Serti technique, watercolor and how to stretch, steam and care for your silk creations. Come have fun while exploring the medium. No previous art background is necessary. Additional scarves will be available for purchase through the instructor.

Beginning Collage

Become acquainted with various approaches to collage, along with techniques for making collage papers and other materials. Learn fundamentals of composition with a series of design exercises exploring shape, color, texture and numerous ways to start, develop and finish media pieces. Pick-up a supply list prior to the first class.

Image Transfers & Photo Alteration

Ages 14+ & Adult
Discover multiple methods for making and using image transfers and expand your creative horizons with photo alteration. Transfers are a valuable resource for incorporating representative imagery into your abstract work, and each method provides a unique look. Printed photos are superb beginnings for true mixed media gems. Mixing and matching techniques with different surfaces makes it all the more fun!

Enameling
Instructor: Mary Stoneman
Adult
Come learn the basics of how to use powdered glass on copper to make unique, enameled works of art. Starting with pre-formed copper blanks, learn to sift the glass to create amazing effects, layers of color and textures. Techniques will include stenciling, sgraffito, foil inclusions and basse-taille.
