MEET THE INSTRUCTOR
: Shannon Ray
Shannon Ray is a painter interested in the paint films – application, abrasion, removal and manipulations. Although her work can seem very different from piece to piece, it’s really all about the paint – how far she can push it – and her response when it surprises her.
Shannon’s work is influenced by the countryside of the rural Northwest. She is recognized regionally for a career of painting and teaching and is the recipient of two National Endowment of the Arts Awards. Teaching students to paint, Shannon is supportive and has no boundaries or assumptions – it is all about where the student is and where they want to go.
