Robert Dailey named Executive Director of the CCC

The Chehalem Cultural Center board of directors chose Robert Dailey, interim director of the Santa Fe Children’s Museum, to be the next executive director of the Chehalem Cultural Center. He succeeds Paul Lipscomb, who has served as interim director since December.

“The Center is in an exciting place right now,” Dailey said. “So much work has been done, from the visioning of the beautiful building to assembling the talented staff. The possibilities are truly limitless. With the positive energy of the board of directors and some very achievable goals in front of us, I look forward to the challenge.”

Dailey was selected from a nationwide field of over 100 applicants in a rigorous selection process conducted by the board search and selection committee. He was the unanimous choice of the 11-member board.

Dailey brings broad experience in the arts and nonprofit fields. He recently stepped into the role of interim director of the Santa Fe Children’s Museum, having served as its deputy director since January 2009. His responsibilities include managing day-to-day operations, finance and personnel, as well as strategic planning and fund raising.

Prior to coming to the Children’s Museum, Dailey directed the finances and operations for the Santa Fe Desert Chorale and spent two years as chief operating officer of a start-up company focused on online ticketing. Dailey has served on the board of directors of Grandstreet Theatre, a nonprofit community theater in Helena, Montana.

Dailey holds a bachelor of Liberal Arts in English Composition and Literature from the University of Alaska in Juneau. He is a published author and playwright

“We are excited about the strong leadership skills, creativity and energy Rob will bring to the Cultural Center,” said Kris Horn, board chairwoman. “He has clearly caught the vision and sees the possibilities for the Center’s future and the special role it will play in our community.” Robert is slated to start July 1, 2012.

Ready…Set…Create!

Summer is here and everyone wants to get creative! Kids of all ages can choose their favorite camp and kick off the summer in creative style. Camps are divided by age groups and emphasis – choose one each week and join in the fun at the Chehalem Cultural Center’s Summer Arts Camps. For ages 6-14.

Session 1: June 18 – June 22 (M- F) 9:00 am – 4:00 pm
Session 2: June 25 – June 29 (M-F) 9:00 am – 4:00 pm
Session 3: July 16 – 20 (M- F) 9:00 am – 4:00 pm

How to Participate

Make a donation to the Oregon Cultural Trust. The cultural tax credit is generous: up to $500 for individuals, $1,000 for couples filing jointly, $2,500 for corporations. And when you add up the deductions and credit, at the federal and state levels, the tax savings for cultural giving are impressive.

To claim your tax credit you simply make a matching gift or gifts – same or greater dollar amount – to any combination of cultural nonprofits in Oregon.

If you’re a member of a public broadcaster, an historical society or a museum of any kind, or if you’re making cash donations to a library or school foundation, an art center or nonprofit gallery, a heritage organization or a performing arts group, you’re eligible to make a matching gift to the Trust for which you may claim a 100% Oregon tax credit.

Oregon’s unique cultural tax credit is a powerful incentive. But the reason to give is to sustain and develop Oregon’s arts, heritage and humanities.

The Cultural Trust was designed to direct support to cultural nonprofits (like the Chehalem Cultural Center) in a multitude of ways. But it all starts with you!
