Molly Sweeney: by Brian Friel
Thur, Fri, Sat February 16th – 18th @ 7pm & February 23th-25th @ 7pm
Sundays February 19 & 26th @ 2pm
Brian Friel, Ireland’s master storyteller (Dancing at Lughnasa) has devised a riveting drama about the terrible consequences of a medical miracle. Molly has lived in happy, capable, independent darkness since she was ten months old. When her husband, a restless, unemployed enthusiast makes her blindness his latest cause, he consults a once famous star surgeon who, despite being half drowned in whiskey agrees to attempt to restore Molly’s sight.
When the bandages come off, remarkable revelations ensue. The privacy of blindness is assaulted. Can one “learn to see”? or will the shock of realization overwhelm a beautiful woman who has never seen her own face! Friel’s fascinating journey plunges deeply into the secrets and hearts of three extraordinary characters who lower the veil and allow us into their very private lives.

It is absolutely impossible to exist in high society and find a husband when your favorite relative is certifiably insane. If only Uncle Elwood would stop introducing everyone to his best friend, an invisible 6-foot-tall white rabbit named Harvey. This hilarious comedy offers sharp wit, unforgettable characters and romance, with a strong dose of insanity.
