An introduction to drawing and painting realistic portraits of pets and animals both from life and from photographs.
In this fun class, students will be encouraged to bring a well behaved pet to serve as a model for the class. Students can also bring photographs of their own pets or other animals to work on during class.
With a strong emphasis on the quick sketch and using a variety of traditional and contemporary studio methods, students will focus on capturing the character and essential likeness of animals and pets. Students will also be introduced to the basics of proportion, light and shadow, animal anatomy and structure, composition and texture. We will be working mainly with pencil and charcoal, however students are welcome to use any media.
A great course for both beginners and experienced students, which can be applied to a variety of mediums such as oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel and colored pencil. This class can also be readily applied to computer based graphic novel and comics work.
