Ever wanted to paint people, but have been held back by fear, or less than inspiring results? This class focuses on removing barriers that are keeping you from fully enjoying the process of painting and drawing people.
Starting with pencil and paper all the way into oil painting and everything in between, this class covers all aspects of the traditional portrait. Learn how to achieve a likeness, model light and shade, mix flesh tones, and apply paint. Includes demonstrations, and insights on the portrait in art history. Valuable information for all levels.
Along the way we will also touch on and review some of the key elements of realistic painting such as composition, accurate drawing, proportion, foreshortening and shading, anatomy and structure as well as the choosing and making of tools and materials. Although our focus will be on working towards a finished painting, the principles can be applied to a variety of mediums such pencil, charcoal, acrylic, watercolor and pastel
