About the Choral Arts Ensemble of Portland
CAE continues to uphold our tradition of choral excellence, sharing the beauty and power of choral music while having a little fun along the way.  Celebrating our 50th anniversary as one of the region's premiere choral ensembles, we seek to build community, educate, enrich and entertain our audiences with exceptional performances of familiar and rarely heard music. We exemplify everything that makes our region great: fun and a little geeky, accessible and approachable, passion for our art form, friendly and welcoming. We are singers who represent a variety of professional occupations and diverse singing experiences, but we have all joined for a simple reason – passion – for music, for our fellow singers and for our audiences. Through artistic excellence and creative collaboration, we are committed to creating inspiring concert experiences.  Learn more about the Choral Arts Ensemble by visiting http://www.portlandschoir.org/

#8 | November 17: Portland opera To-Go presents The Barber of Seville

Set in Alta California in the 1830s, we have retained all of Rossini’s buoyant good humor and added a fresh twist for audiences of all ages.

Rosina is new in town. Fresh from México, she lives with her controlling, suspicious Uncle Bartolo, who is planning to marry her off to one of his rich, elderly friends. But Rosina is in love with the handsome chavo she saw in the plaza. She knows he likes her too, but they have a problem…she speaks only Spanish,
and he speaks only English! Enter the brilliant, bilingual vivales, Figaro! Porque a veces, ¡hasta el lenguaje del amor necesita traducción!

Enjoyed by audiences of all ages. Each year, Portland Opera To Go travels throughout Oregon and SW Washington schools and community venues with a full-staged 50 minute, English-language adaptation of a famous opera.

Doors open at 1:30pm, performance begins at 2pm

Tickets are $5 and free for youth under 18
