Contra Dance

Can you walk on two feet? Can you play “Simon Says”? Then you can contra dance! Join the fun at our monthly community Contra Dance here at the Chehalem Cultural Center!

What is contra? Contra dance is meeting people, social interaction and making new friends all while enjoying live music and getting great low-impact exercise. Contra dance is a style of folk dance with roots in English and French folk dancing and is enjoyed all over the country. It's for ALL ages and is easy to learn. A caller walks dancers through the steps of each dance so beginners are very welcome and people can jump in at any time!

Come at 7:00 for a lesson to learn the basic moves and then enjoy dancing to the music by local Portland musicians 7:30-10:00. No partner required, just come ready to dance and have fun!
