Newberg Historical Society

The Newberg Historical Society hosts a monthly presentation focused on sharing the history of Newberg. They cover a variety of subjects, inviting community members and historians to facilitate conversations. This is a free community event, and each month is a different topic. 

Unpacking the University's Attic
Caitlin Corning, Professor of History at George Fox University will be presenting her work with the defunct campus museum at George Fox University.  Corning received a George Fox University innovation grant to work towards the preservation of numerous artifacts owned by the university that have been in storage since the campus museum closed in 1996.  She will share some of her favorite finds, the joys and struggle of the work, and future plans for the collection.

Caitlin Corning is a professor of history and has been at George Fox since 1996. She received a BA in History and Latin from Seattle Pacific University, an MA in Medieval Studies from the Centre for Medieval Studies at the University of Leeds, and a PhD in early Medieval history from the University of Leeds.
