In conjunction with the 2017 National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts (NCECA), the Chehalem Cultural Center is hosting two ceramics exhibitions featuring wood-fired ceramics.
The exhibition reception for both exhibitions is open to the public on Thursday, March 23 from 5–8pm.
Ashes & Flux | Parrish Gallery
The Ashes & Flux exhibition showcases nationally recognized wood fire ceramicists from four wood fire kilns in Oregon: East Creek, Noble Hill, Pleasant Hill, and FuuKooGama. This exhibition displays the diversity produced from each of these kilns and how the artists firing in them push the boundaries of what wood fire has been and will become.
Great Waves Over the Pacific on Woodfiring | Grand Lobby Gallery
The Great Waves Over the Pacific on Wood Firing is a tribute to the ripple effects of over 60 years of inspiration by Anagama and wood fire artist Takashi Nakazato. This exhibition reflects how the ripples of Nakazato's work has flowed into each artists' present work and how it will continue to inspire future work. This exhibition was organized by Ruri and curated by Erin Padilla. Featured artists include: Takashi Nakazato, Doug Casebeer, Chris Gustin, John Neely, Fumiko Nagai, Ruri, Brad McLemore, Chris Baskin.
