Art Galleries
The Chehalem Cultural Center features around 5,477 sqft. of art galleries that are free and open to the public, putting us among some of the largest gallery spaces in Oregon. The goal of the center is to feature local, regional, national and international artists that create work in all variety of mediums. Our galleries provide opportunities for critical dialogue, and connecting our community with a wide variety of mediums, processes, concepts and themes. Exhibitions typically rotate every two-months.
Galleries are open for viewing and art purchase:

Exquisite Creatures
Christopher Marley
May 12 - September 3 throughout the CCC
Artist, naturalist and New York Times bestselling author Christopher Marley reveals the obscure beauty in nature through his three-dimensional work with animal, mineral and plant specimens. Guests will experience the ancient connection between art, nature and science at Marley’s awe-inspiring exhibit. Tapping the natural world as his medium, his revolutionary work features rare elements of nature in the precise geometric compositions that have become his signature.

Wild Wonders
Curated Exhibit
May 12 - August 27 in the Central Gallery
This exhibition celebrates the beauty, power, and mystery of the natural world, showcasing works inspired by flora and fauna. From quiet, intimate studies of nature to bold interpretations of wilderness and ecological connection, Wild Wonders seeks to highlight the many ways artists engage with the living world around us. In a coordinated tandem display with Christopher Marley’s exhibit, Exquisite Creatures, our community responded to this call for art with their own celebration of the natural world. Through diverse perspectives and artistic approaches, Wild Wonders aims to inspire curiosity, reverence, and a renewed sense of connection to the natural world.

Community Open House | Saturday, June 6 | 12pm-4pm
Celebrate the incredible Exquisite Creatures exhibit with us at a free community open house for all ages! Featuring hands-on activities, animal art talks, an ice cream bar, balloon twister, and visit from Reptile Man!

“Keeper” talks are art and science based discussions about the preserved artwork on display with an artist and/or hobby naturalist. They will run for about 15-30 min each.

Explore Our Galleries
Art Gallery iSpy
Each month, visit the CCC for the new iSpy card and seek out art pieces across our different exhibits, leading you on an adventure to explore our 5,477 sq ft. of gallery space. Careful observers who find all of the art pieces can visit the front desk and collect a unique card featuring a custom drawing commissioned from Oregon artist Noel Sherwood, Kalapuya Native American and part of the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde.
SaturPLAY
Once a month, the community is invited to stop by the sensory table in our gallery space and learn more about the materials and techniques that were used by the artist and make their own project inspired by the exhibit to take home!

Public Art Receptions
Artist Receptions are a chance to explore our exhibits with others, meet the artists, and hear more about the ideas behind the art! They are free and open to the public and typically light snacks and drinks are served. Artist Talks generally take place around 6pm.

Every first Friday during the Downtown Newberg Art Walk! Stop by and learn more about the Art for the People exhibit on Friday, April 2 with tours at 5:30pm and 6:30pm.

The Chehalem Cultural Center invites you to apply for an upcoming themed exhibit, Wild Wonders. This exhibition will celebrate the beauty, power, and mystery of the natural world, showcasing works inspired by flora and fauna.
This show will be displayed in tandem with Exquisite Creatures, created by artist Christopher Marley.

Ceramic Studio Residency Program
Our goal is to support emerging and established ceramic artists who are interested in building community engagement alongside furthering their own clay practice. This Artist Residency is supported by the Oregon Cultural Trust and the Yamhill County Cultural Coalition.
