FAMILY CLASSES

This club is all about trying new things and letting our imaginations soar! Through guided crafts and artistic exploration, our youngest artists will be free to learn, create and make a mess while having fun with clay, paint and much more!

Family Clay Play for PreK-5th Grade | Sundays 3-4:30pm | Jan 25- Mar 1

Families work together to create extraordinary clay vessels and projects. Each week, families will create a different type of hand-built project. One spot will cover 1 Parent/Guardian + 1 child- students must attend with an adult guardian.

Christmas Card Block Printing Workshop

Tuesday December 16th, 9:30am-12:30pm

This coming December, Christine Joy is looking forward to teaching a new 3 hour class, in block printing! This is a lovely medium with room for great stylistic experimentation. This class is for both the beginner and the advanced. We will be creating simple designs that can be printed onto Christmas greeting cards.

Figure Drawing (Ages 18+)

Join us for studio sessions providing beginner and advanced artists an opportunity to draw the human figure. Each session will have the model in varying poses and will be self-directed with an instructor present for specific help, guidelines, and examples.


Advanced Painting Theory for Adults: Color (Ages 14-17 welcome to enroll)

Sundays, 2pm-6pm | Jan 25- Mar 1

Artist Instructor: Trevor Linder | $295/ session 

If you know the basics of your medium but you’re stuck wondering how to take your work to the next level, this course is for you. We’ll discuss the intricacies of Color theory: limited and extended palettes, color mixing, color temperature, light-atmosphere-material relationships, gamut masking and color harmony design. In every session, we will also apply these concepts, giving you powerful understanding, experience and positive critique in an environment led by an instructor who lives for the joy of making and helping others make art.

Perspective Drawing for Adults  (Ages 14-17 welcome to enroll)

Tuesdays, 6pm-9pm | Jan 27- Mar 3

Artist Instructor: Trevor Linder | $180/ session 

Learn how to think, see, construct, and draw in perspective! In this highly technical course, we will discuss the foundations of perspective drawing, addressing the underlying aspects of sight that allow for us to create the illusion of perspective on the page. By the end of this course, you will learn how to effectively construct complex objects in 1 point and 2 point perspective.

Drawing Hands (Ages 14-17 welcome to enroll)

Fridays, 9am-Noon | Jan 30- Mar 6

Artist Instructor: Trevor Linder | $225/ session 

Develop your own sophisticated approach to drawing hands. There is no single right way to draw the human form, yet the foundational concepts of proportion, rhythm, and form must be acknowledged in any advanced process by which any aspect of anatomy is being realized. In this class you will study these concepts plus different approaches for incorporating them in a drawing, rendering, or painting process.

Painting with the Masters: Watercolors

Tuesdays, 10am-12pm | Jan 27-Feb 17

Artist-Instructor: Christine Joy Swanson | $160/4 week session

Create paintings in the style of 4 master watercolor artists - Paul Cezanne, Berthe Morisot, Albrecht Durer, Beatrix Potter. Each session will begin with a demonstration by Christine, and then the rest of class will be painting time for the students with individual guidance from the instructor. 


Painting Mountains in Gouache

One spectacular thing about mountains is how much variety there is in their shape and formation. Gouache is a great medium for capturing these wonders of our world, especially when it comes to painting snow! Painting Dramatic Skies (Beg/Int) Oil Painting

Wednesdays, 12:30pm-2:30pm | Jan 28- Feb 18

Paint dramatic skies, including various cloud formations, sunsets, fog, golden hour and more! When painting a landscape scene, so often the sky is given less prominence and thought, but done well it can elevate the look of the entire scene. Each session will begin with a demonstration by Christine, and then the rest of class will be painting time for the students with individual guidance from the instructor.


Painting Nocturnes In Watercolor - One Day Workshop

Tues 10am-12pm, Feb 24

Artist-Instructor: Christine Joy Swanson, $45 for one day workshop 

Christine Joy is looking forward to teaching a new watercolor workshop focusing on the beauty of nocturnes! In this class we will be learning how to paint vibrant night skies and intentionally “bleed” the colors in a soft gradient. 

Christine will give a demonstration at the beginning of class and then the rest of class will be painting time for the students. In this class we will be working from some photos, so students are also invited to bring in their own photo inspiration to work from - however Christine will be providing many great photos as well. Some extra focuses of this class will include: brushwork, texture, and of course some color theory!

Intro to Relief Printmaking- 4 week Series

This four part beginning class is designed to introduce participants to the world of relief printmaking, an age-old technique that forms the foundation for many traditional forms of print art, from woodcuts to linocuts. Students will explore the creative process, learn fundamental techniques, and create their own original prints.

Bookbinding Workshop- Make Your Own Watercolor Sketchbook! 

Sunday 3pm-6pm, Feb 22

This workshop offers a hands-on experience in traditional bookbinding materials and techniques, specifically focusing on the creation of a watercolor sketchbook or journal with the coptic stitch. Students will learn the basics of bookbinding while honing their skills in stitching, covering, and finishing, creating a beautiful, functional book to take home.

This workshop is designed for all skill levels of participants interested in learning a creative, hands-on skill.

Students will need to bring a 9x12 pad of 140 lb watercolor paper of their choosing. Canson XL Watercolor paper is a great option.

All other materials including book board, decorative paper, book cloth and linen thread will be provided.


Needle & Thread Club for Teens & Adults

Thursdays 5pm-6:30pm, Jan 22- Feb 26

Artist-Instructor: Annika Morse $150/session (all materials provided) 

Your favorite pair of pants with the hole in the knee can be fixed! That sweater you always wear that makes you feel cozy year after year? It can be fixed! Learn how you can bring your old favorites back to life and add handmade detail to your wardrobe through mending and embroidery.  This course will teach basic sewing and embroidery techniques as well as focusing on experimenting with sashiko (Japanese mending).

ADULT PERFORMING ARTS

Improvisation 101 for Everyone!

Using warm ups, games, imagination, and teamwork we will learn improv skills and principles that can carry over into every situation on stage and in life! We’ll cover all the basics of improvisation, learning how to be on stage in the moment without a script, with confidence and good humor. You don't need to be extroverted. You don't need to be imaginative. You don't need to already know how to improvise. You just need to bring yourself - you are already more of an expert than you know!

ADULT mINDFULNESS

Monday Mindfulness- Ongoing Drop In Series | Weekly through December 15th

Start your week with a guided meditation session that will leave you centered, grounded, and ready to approach life with intention! Each week students will experience a 30-45-minute mindfulness session. Certified mindfulness instructor Annie Shull will guide students through a grounding seated meditation, gentle yoga-based movement, and explore cultivation and body scan practices.

Surface Design -

All Ceramics Courses run $235/ 6 week session

Explore various methods and techniques in ceramic surface decoration! You’ll learn how to make texture tools, glazing techniques, underglaze uses, carving, luster, and many more surface design techniques.

EXPERIENCE LEVEL: The atmosphere of this class will be relaxed and welcoming, though we will be working with techniques that are slightly above a beginning level. Intermediate and advanced level students recommended.
